The story
Bodega Noi at Loretostrasse 19 in Lichtensteig serves Mediterranean and Swiss cooking in the heart of the Toggenburg, and Gault&Millau awarded it 14 points in 2026.
Nikos Stergiou cooks here with his team, and the guide describes the Greek brothers Stergiou as keeping an oasis for connoisseurs alive in the valley. Even the bread is baked in-house. The menu mixes regional and international dishes, some drawn from a grandmother's recipe book, others more inventive. Michelin lists the restaurant as Recommended for 2026.
Among the starters, lukewarm grape leaves come stuffed with tzatziki, and the vitello tonnato carries a feather-light sauce. Breaded scampi arrive with a salad of coconut slices, mint and spring onions. Mains on the current card include lamb saddle with an herb crust and a Toggenburg beef entrecôte. For dessert, there is a baklava variation, or crema catalana with pistachio ice cream. A raw-milk cheese from Lichtensteig's own Städtlichäsi is the savory alternative.
In warmer months the terrace sits beneath a giant chestnut tree. The wine list leans on Greek specialties, with affordable French bottles and classics from Switzerland and Austria. A separate bar handles cocktails, whether for an evening with friends or a last drink after dinner.
