The story
La Sorgente is an Italian fine dining restaurant in Lugano, Switzerland, at Portich da Sura 18 in the village of Vico Morcote, above Lake Lugano. Gault&Millau awarded it 14 points in 2026, and its review singles out chef Francesco Sangalli's light, purist cooking, which joins technique and terroir.
Chef Francesco Sangalli builds the kitchen around produce from small local growers. The menu follows the season and changes with what the region supplies. Live flame, charcoal and smoking give the dishes their character, without much decoration on the plate.
The menu has included Ticino-style pasta mista di Gragnano in a leek oil broth with seafood, and sustainably farmed halibut with white asparagus and aioli. Grilled Swiss Black Angus picanha and a Swiss ribeye come off the wood fire, and the meal ends with a light vanilla eclair with fresh lemon balm.
The restaurant occupies an old 17th-century house with two historic dining rooms and a panoramic terrace over the lake. The wine list holds more than 150 selected labels, chosen by sommelier Giulia Pozzoli Bernasconi, and many come from the family's organic estate, Tenuta Castello di Morcote. The Michelin Guide lists the restaurant as Recommended for 2026.
