The story
Blume, at Freudwilerstrasse 6 in Gutenswil, cooks seasonal Swiss food in a village inn a short drive from Uster. It holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand for 2026.
Patron Michael Müller has long run the evening Blume-Menü, a modern take on Swiss home cooking. Gault&Millau gives the kitchen 13 points for 2026 and describes the food as well made and suited to its rural surroundings. Lunch brings a reasonably priced set menu and à la carte dishes. In the evening the à la carte list sits alongside the menu. The room includes a small hall (Säli) and a garden.
Gault&Millau singles out spinach risotto with fried prawns and a boiled-beef carpaccio with lentils, mustard ice cream and winter vegetables. Entrecôte comes with glazed carrots and butter noodles. Classics include beef braised for hours in Merlot sauce and a tripe and mushroom salad. Dessert might be chocolate mousse with a mini cheesecake, sour cherries and sour cream ice cream. For a place this size, the wine list offers a surprising number of open bottles.
