The story
Taverne zur Krone, at Kronenplatz 1 in Dietikon, serves international cooking with a seasonal bent inside a 300-year-old house. Gault&Millau gave it 13 points in 2026.
Heinz Schenkel runs the Krone with Maria de Lourdes Schenkel. Under one roof sit the wood-paneled Taverne, a bistro, a brasserie and a garden. The menu stays classic, with creative starters, and the hosts describe a light, modern seasonal kitchen. The Michelin Guide lists the restaurant as Recommended for 2026.
An apple foam soup with pan-fried duck liver opens the meal, and a mini lettuce arrives with fried squid. Mains are more traditional: beef fillet cubes in red wine sauce, lemon mashed potatoes, market vegetables. Tarte Tatin with caramel ice cream follows. The wine list is fairly priced, and the service is attentive and friendly.
