The story
Kistücsök in Balatonszárszó, at Bajcsy-Zsilinszky utca 25 in Balatonszemes, is a Hungarian kitchen on the southern shore of Lake Balaton that earned the Michelin Bib Gourmand in 2026 for good-quality, good-value cooking.
Chef László Jahni is credited with many of the house classics. Gault&Millau names a fermented cucumber cream soup, venison in creamy vegetable sauce, and duck leg with cabbage noodles. The Hungarian menu draws on local ingredients, and the restaurant works closely with regional producers, fishermen and winemakers.
The Chef's Room seats up to 24 people around an open kitchen, where seasonal menus are cooked in front of guests. Its tasting menus lean toward plant-based dishes, paired with fish and game such as trout. Guests can talk with the cooks about ingredients and wine pairings while they eat.
