The story
VEA Restaurant serves French cuisine at 30F, The Wellington, 198 Wellington Street in Central, Hong Kong. The restaurant earned one Michelin star in 2026 for high quality cooking, and its tasting menus combine French technique with traditional Chinese ingredients.
Chef Vicky Cheng calls his approach "Chinese x French," pairing premium Chinese ingredients with modern French methods. Each tasting menu course comes with a personal story from Vicky, so the meal works as a series of memories as well as dishes. He trained under Daniel Boulud in New York and spent more than a decade in French restaurants before opening VEA.
Twenty-five counter seats run along the length of the open kitchen, so guests can watch the cooks at work. Chefs, bartenders and sommeliers all serve from the same counter. Private room menus are also offered for groups.
