The story
Le Comptoir at Försterstraße 15 in Saarbrücken is a French restaurant built around one long counter, and the Michelin Guide listed it as Recommended in 2026. A single menu of four or five courses is served here, cooked by the owner.
Jens Jakob was born in Saarbrücken and has worked in fine dining for almost two decades. He opened Le Noir in 2007 and kept two Michelin stars there. He took over Le Comptoir as sole owner in June 2022 and now runs the kitchen and the service. His pastry chef, Andrea Scheyer, worked with him at Le Noir and still makes the desserts.
There is no à la carte. The March and April 2026 menu cost 104 € for four courses and 111 € for five. It listed duck liver with rhubarb and almond, monkfish with caviar, beetroot and basil, and egg yolk ravioli with Périgord truffle and spinach. Veal fillet with artichoke, pepper and thyme followed, then a mille-feuille with pastry cream and pineapple. Each course comes with a matched wine, and a vegetarian menu is possible on request.
Guests sit side by side at the long counter, which gives the restaurant its name, and talk to the chef at eye level. The room has exposed brick and an open kitchen. The building is the birthplace of the filmmaker Max Ophüls and was once a bakery. A few tables serve groups, and Jakob also teaches cooking classes for eight to twelve people.
