The story
Landhaus Hohenlohe at Erlenweg 24 in Rot am See pairs country cooking with a Mediterranean touch, and the Schlemmer Atlas awarded it 2.5 Kochlöffel in 2026. It sits on the edge of town, with cows grazing behind the house.
Matthias Mack draws on the Hohenlohe region and adds Mediterranean lightness. Vegetables and herbs come from the restaurant's own garden. The house motto is to keep things simple. Roast beef with truffle jus and salmon fillet with beurre blanc show how that plays out on the plate. The Michelin Guide lists the restaurant as Recommended for 2026.
Inside, the Stube has an open fireplace and wooden benches. Large windows in the restaurant look out over the fields and the grazing cows. In summer the terrace and the garden lounge under a sun sail take over, with lighter dishes and cocktails.
The chef's table, called the "Küchenwerkstatt," is set up for groups of 6 to 12 who want to dine undisturbed. Private dining and catering are also on offer. Guests can stay overnight in the house's double rooms, and several packages combine a room, breakfast and a multi-course menu.
