The story
Landgasthof Adler at Ellwanger Straße 15 in Rosenberg is a German country inn with a classic kitchen built on local ingredients, and it earned a Michelin Recommended mention for 2026. The restaurant keeps its country-inn character while holding to fine-dining standards.
Michael Vogel has run the kitchen since 2022, continuing a country-inn tradition that predecessor Josef Bauer built. The Schlemmer Atlas awards the house 3 Kochlöffel for 2026 and describes a cooking style that links tradition and modernity to the region and to nature.
The champagne tripe with smoked eel and morels is a classic created by Josef Bauer. Vogel also serves tender octopus in a Mediterranean-style beurre blanc with tomatoes. The pink lamb loin arrives with a fragrant jus, poured from a small jug so guests can refill it. Guests can choose à la carte or a Carte Blanche menu of three to seven courses.
The dining room is on the first floor, and black-and-white photographs in the alcove show rural village life. Young restaurant manager Niklas Schüler greets guests warmly. The wine list focuses on Baden and Württemberg, with other German regions and selections from Austria, Italy and France. The shop sells house-made muesli and Sturzflug spirits, and takeout is available.
