The story
Weinhaus Anker in Marktheidenfeld, at Obertorstraße 13, serves a Franconian and French kitchen that earned three Kochlöffel from the Schlemmer Atlas in 2026. The restaurant occupies the historic house of the family-run Hotel & Weinhaus Anker, on the edge of the Spessart in Franconia.
Bernhard Lermann has cooked at some of the finest restaurants in France and has spent more than ten years in Marktheidenfeld. Der Feinschmecker rates the house 2.5. The kitchen works with fresh ingredients, mostly bought directly from producers, and the French-leaning menus follow classic technique.
The Weinhaus Menu includes Breton ray wing with beurre blanc, and wild prawns with Thermidor sauce. Dessert is a chocolate tart served with cherry sorbet. The vegetarian menu features a Tyrolean mountain cheese napkin dumpling with scorzonera ragout.
The historic dining room has white linens, wood-paneled walls, and ceilings decorated with original paintings. In the old Stube, the painted ceiling was uncovered and restored during renovation. The wine list offers about 150 selections, with a solid range of Franconian bottles alongside international labels.
