The story
Spessarttor, at Wombacher Straße 140 in Lohr am Main, is a Franconian country kitchen that Michelin lists as Recommended (2026). The family-run inn sits between the Spessart forest and the Main valley, and its cooking stays close to regional roots.
Michael Naetscher, the chef, returned to the family business after cooking in Switzerland and at Vier Jahreszeiten in Munich. The kitchen works with fresh products and serves Franconian classics alongside seasonal game dishes. The Schlemmer Atlas awards the restaurant 1.5 Kochlöffel for 2026, and the inn's tradition dates back to 1865.
Guests dine in the Gaststube, where the atmosphere is cosy and distinctly Franconian. The dishes are down-to-earth and freshly prepared. The wine cellar holds a selection of wines and grape varieties chosen to pair with the country cooking.
