The story

Restaurant Culinarium in Lieser: World Cuisine in a Former Colonial Goods Shop

Restaurant Culinarium, at Hauptstr. 81-83 in Lieser on the Moselle, serves World Cuisine in a historic house, and the Schlemmer Atlas awarded it 2,5 Kochlöffel for 2026.

A house built from castle stone

The Nießen family built the house more than 380 years ago from the demolition stones of Philippsfreude Castle. For a long time it operated as a grocery shop. Today the historic rooms hold the main restaurant and several lounges, and the original family atmosphere has been kept.

Mosel wines and summer seating

The wine list centers on the Mosel growing region, with Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris and Elbling among the whites. Reds include Pinot Noir and selections from France, Italy and Spain. A wine consultation is available to pair bottles with the food. In summer, guests can sit on the terrace in the romantic garden. Gourmet menus and à la carte dishes are served from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.
