The story
JuLe im Groenesteyn at Oberstr. 36 in Kiedrich serves seasonal regional cooking in the historic Gutsschänke of Schloss Gronesteyn, and the Schlemmer Atlas awarded it 2 Kochlöffel in 2026. The house is also a wine bar, pouring wines from its own estate alongside a German kitchen built around hearty classics.
Julia and Leonard took over the Gutsschänke in early 2026 and work with chef Markus, who brings long restaurant experience and pairs craftsmanship with high-quality ingredients. Leonard shapes the house style with his sense for taste and fresh ideas. The menu follows the seasons and relies on regional produce, prepared with visible care.
The Schlemmer Atlas singled out rump steak, schnitzel and sausage salad, dishes that suit a table in a wine village. Wines from the estate accompany them, so the glass and the plate come from the same land. Each course reflects the kitchen's focus on local ingredients.
Guests sit in a cozy, wood-paneled dining room behind a half-timbered facade. The indoor space seats up to 80 people, and the terrace holds about 60, which makes the site suited to private celebrations and company dinners. The restaurant also hosts Christmas parties for groups of up to 75.
