The story
Restaurant Medici serves modern European cooking at Weißadlergasse 2 in Frankfurt am Main, and the Michelin Guide listed it as Recommended in 2026. It sits a few steps from the Hauptwache, between the Zeil shopping street and the Römer.
Christos and Stamatios Simiakos opened Medici in February 2004. Both grew up in Gummersbach and trained in German fine dining under Alfons Schuhbeck, Eckart Witzigmann, and Jörg and Dieter Müller, among others. Their contemporary European kitchen pairs classical technique with modern accents and flavours from elsewhere, and the house prefers that label to "Mediterranean" or "international".
A hand-operated flywheel slicer cuts the ham paper thin: 36-month Parma, Gran Reserva Serrano, or 48-month Coppa de Cabecero Ibérico de Bellota. On weekdays the business lunch changes daily and costs 29.50 euros for two courses or 34.50 for three. Evenings offer both an à la carte and a set menu.
The wine list has grown past 700 positions, with Germany and Burgundy as its focus. Wine Spectator gave it a Best of Award of Excellence in 2025. Stefan Krenzer leads the service, and Carlos Palacios runs the bar.
