Kraftwerk Oberursel: Contemporary Austrian Cuisine near Frankfurt am Main

Kraftwerk, at Zimmersmühlenweg 2 in Oberursel near Frankfurt am Main, is a contemporary Austrian kitchen rated three Kochlöffel in the Schlemmer Atlas 2026. The restaurant is housed in a former power plant and serves Austrian classics alongside international ideas.

Tradition, reworked

Daniela Finkes and Bertl Seebacher have run Kraftwerk together for nearly 20 years. The kitchen keeps the dishes of mothers and grandmothers close to their original form, then opens them to international produce and modern technique. The house calls this approach contemporary Austrian cuisine, and the menu makes the reasoning visible on the plate.

Dishes on the Felix Austria menu

The menu opens with a clear Tafelspitz consommé, a nod to the beef broth at the root of Austrian cooking. Salmon arrives with Käferbohnencreme, kren, pumpkin seed oil and ponzu, a playful pairing of Austrian and Asian flavours. Lobster is served with Krautfleckerl, and the meal closes with a crème brûlée built on the Alm café, with nougat and pistachio.

The room and the evening

The former power plant has a spacious hall, a stylish interior, a showroom with vintage cars and a cooking workshop. The restaurant offers two menu sizes plus an à la carte selection, as well as takeout and outdoor seating. Michelin lists Kraftwerk as Recommended for 2026, and the larger hall also hosts private events for up to 150 guests.
