The story
Lindenhof in Emsdetten, at Alte Emsstraße 7, is a country cooking restaurant with Mediterranean and fusion influences. It holds a Michelin Recommended distinction for 2026 and sits inside a family-run boutique hotel.
Chef Udo Hankh and his team cook with fresh, seasonal ingredients from the region. The kitchen pairs traditional dishes with modern technique, and the menu moves between hearty classics and more precise plates. A separate vegetarian menu sits alongside the main one.
The rumpsteak comes from black Angus beef, served with pan-fried potatoes and a choice of pepper sauce or herb butter. Venison loin wrapped in crêpe is finished with a cherry and pepper sauce. Walnut ricotta ravioli with spinach, pear and nut butter anchors the vegetarian menu. For dessert, the crème brûlée uses Bourbon vanilla and comes with pear and white coffee ice cream.
The dining room blends old German elements with modern elegance and seats up to 60 guests. The Schlemmer Atlas 2026 awarded it three Kochlöffel, noting its antiques and tables dressed in white. In summer, guests can eat on the terrace or a sheltered balcony. The wine list offers about 100 wines from old and new world regions, including Riesling from Germany, Sancerre from France and Shiraz from Australia.
