The story
The Beef by EMIL is a steakhouse and fusion restaurant at Emil-Moog-Platz 44137 in Dortmund, Germany. The Schlemmer Atlas awarded it 2 Kochlöffel in 2026, and the cross vault of the former Union Brewery gives the dining room its character.
Premium cuts come off an 800° grill, and the menu also lists burgers, handmade pasta and creative seafood dishes. Martin Hesterberg, the house meat sommelier, chooses the beef. Guests can ask him about cuts, doneness and the differences between breeds and aging.
The restaurant occupies the former Auerbachkeller in the Dortmunder U, a historic vaulted cellar. Candlelight, wood and design accents create a warm, low-lit mood. Signature drinks and a curated wine list accompany the food, and the team runs regular tastings of gin, whisky, rum and tequila.
