The story
Restaurant Overkamp, at Am Ellberg 1 in Dortmund, serves Westphalian cooking and holds 2,5 Kochlöffel in the Schlemmer Atlas for 2026.
The Overkamp story begins at the Ellberg, where horses were once changed on a trade route between Hörde and Hagen. The Schlemmer Atlas describes a traditional restaurant with a village-like atmosphere, serving upscale regional food to Dortmund for over 300 years. A small family hotel stands on the same hill, at the edge of the forest.
Overkamp belongs to Westfälisch geniessen, an initiative for preserving and developing the region's cuisine, and it supports Slow Food. The Dortmund magazine "DORTMund geht aus" has ranked it first in its Heimatküche category. The Alte Schmiede, a delicatessen shop on site, sells regional products and gifts.
