The story
Restaurant Seegarten sits at Zum Sorpedamm 21, 59846 Sundern, on the shore of the Sorpesee in Arnsberg. Der Feinschmecker awarded it 2.5 in 2026. The world cuisine menu comes from TV chef Olaf Baumeister, who cooks in the guesthouse his family runs.
Baumeister has worked with local producers for years, and many now farm organically. They supply vegetables, herbs, river fish and Wagyu cattle. The Schlemmer Atlas gives the restaurant 2.5 spoons (2026) and notes that almost everything here, from honey to Wagyu beef, comes from nearby.
Sauerland sushi made with salmon trout appears on the à la carte menu, alongside roe deer roasted pink and served on kohlrabi carpaccio. The Schlemmer Atlas also mentions kale cream soup and spruce-bud risotto. Guests eat in a cosy dining room with a raised herb bed, or on the terrace overlooking the lake and pond. The wine list leans German, and the bar offers alcohol-free cocktails.
