The story
Atelier Salone is the bistro at 6 rue du Maréchal-Joffre in Salon-de-Provence, where chef Alexandre Lechêne cooks a modern, seasonal lunch. The address was awarded a Michelin star in 2026.
The formule is written on a slate and changes daily with the season. Two courses cost 34€, three cost 40€. A few dishes stay put, notably the œuf parfait and a soufflé for dessert. Michelin also gave the house a Bib Gourmand in 2026, its mark for good quality, good value cooking.
Lechêne cooks from the land between the Alpilles, Camargue and the Crau plain, and uses wild herbs to season his ingredients. The nearby Alps also shape his cooking. His suppliers are named on the website. They include the Taxil family, who grow chickpeas and small spelt in the Hautes-Alpes, and Fromagerie de l'Horloge, a cheesemonger in Salon-de-Provence itself.
The bistro runs at lunch from Tuesday to Saturday, and its pace suits a working break as well as a family meal. The same house holds Villa Salone, the gastronomic restaurant, which serves tasting menus in the evening and on Sunday at midday. Outdoor seating is available, and the dining room is air-conditioned.
