The story
Maison Medard, in Cosne-Cours-sur-Loire at 19 place des Tilleuls, Boulleret, 18240, France, serves modern cuisine shaped by the vineyards of Sancerre and holds one Michelin star (2026). The restaurant opened in 2014 on the village square of Boulleret, a few minutes from Sancerre.
Julien Medard was born in Beaugency and grew up between his cook father's kitchen and his grandfather's farm. He trained through kitchens in Loir-et-Cher, Loiret and Alsace, then spent four years as chef at a hotel-restaurant in Strasbourg. His cooking aims for simplicity and closeness to nature, and the seasons set the rhythm of the menu.
His wife Delphine leads the dining room with a warm, discreet hand. The cellar concentrates on regional AOC wines, including Sancerre, Pouilly and Menetou-Salon. Food and wine pairings are listed from 65 euros for five glasses, and a chef's cocktail starts at 19 euros. The restaurant also earned four radishes in the 2026 Smart Green Guide.
